Gearboxes and axles churn lubricant at high speed, creating a dense oil mist that saturates the headspace. In standard vents, this mist condenses on the membrane, filling the pores with oil and blocking airflow. A blocked vent causes pressure buildup, leading to seal leaks and lubricant expulsion. Over time, the oil-soaked membrane loses its waterproof properties and requires frequent replacement.

The oil resistant vent plug utilizes an oleophobic ePTFE membrane. The special surface treatment causes gear oil droplets to bead up and slide off rather than spread and penetrate.
