Product Description
This PFAS-free waterproof, dustproof, and sound transparent membrane is a multi-function film designed for harsh industrial venting and acoustic applications. It combines protection against liquid water and fine particulates with high acoustic transmission. The membrane can be customized in diameter, thickness, and mounting method to fit industrial sirens, alarm sounders, two-way radio speaker grilles, and environmental sensor ports. Its completely fluorine-free composition meets mining, oil & gas, and factory automation sector sustainability goals.
Industrial acoustic devices such as emergency sirens, PA speakers, and gas detector alarms must project sound loudly and clearly, but their surroundings are rife with water spray, cement dust, metal fines, and chemical mists. Traditional speaker grille cloths do not provide waterproofing; previous waterproof acoustic vents used PTFE. Now, industrial operators are under pressure to eliminate PFAS from their equipment due to corporate ESG commitments and potential future regulations on industrial chemicals. A robust, triple-function PFAS-free membrane is the solution.
We offer a PFAS-free membrane that delivers IP6X dust protection and IPX6 water jet resistance, while maintaining high sound pressure level transmission. The membrane is supported by a stainless steel or polyester mesh for resistance against mechanical impact. It can be fabricated into custom gaskets with pressure-sensitive adhesive on the perimeter. It effectively blocks cement dust, coal dust, and cutting fluid aerosols, all without using any fluorinated material.

Designed for industrial alarm horns, emergency evacuation speakers, mining cap lamp microphone vents, chemical plant two-way radio grilles, and outdoor warning siren arrays. Also suitable for venting in dusty manufacturing environments.
The membrane is mounted over the speaker or alarm opening. Sound pressure waves vibrate the membrane, radiating into the environment. Dust particles are completely blocked by the pore structure and sealed edges; water jets hit the surface and run off. The integrated mesh prevents rupture from high SPL or flying debris. Because the film is PFAS-free, it can be safely incinerated at end-of-life without generating hydrogen fluoride.
Determine the required sound output level and the highest water jet pressure. We will help specify the right membrane thickness and mesh combination. For rotating beacons with integrated speakers, provide the housing sketch so we can design a custom die-cut with screw holes. Samples can be supplied in small quantities for field testing in actual noisy, wet, and dusty conditions.
Q: Will the membrane withstand high-pressure steam cleaning?
A: Steam can be too aggressive. We recommend IP69K versions for steam. This product is designed for water jets per IEC 60529 IPX6.
Q: Can it be mounted externally without a protective grille?
A: The integrated mesh offers some protection, but a metal grille is advised in areas with potential for flying debris.
Q: Is the membrane resistant to common industrial solvents?
A: It resists most mild solvents and oils. Strong acids or ketones should be avoided, as they may swell the polymer.
