The adhesive ePTFE vent liner for sauce and condiment squeeze bottle air return is a precision micro-venting component engineered to solve the chronic dispensing frustrations of thick, viscous food products packaged in flexible squeeze bottles. This vent is a die-cut patch of food-grade ePTFE waterproof breathable membrane, backed with a durable, food-safe pressure-sensitive adhesive. It is applied to the interior of the bottle cap or the bottle neck, over a small ventilation port, providing a dedicated, liquid-proof air return pathway. During consumer use, when the bottle is squeezed to dispense ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, chocolate syrup, or thick caramel, the ePTFE membrane allows air to instantly re-enter the bottle as it rebounds to its original shape. This prevents the vacuum that would otherwise cause the bottle to stay partially collapsed, making successive squeezes difficult and eventually trapping significant product that cannot be dispensed. The oleophobic membrane treatment prevents the oily, fatty sauces from wetting and clogging the vent, ensuring consistent squeeze-and-return performance from the first serving to the last.
Thick condiments and sauces—ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, chocolate syrup, and thick caramel—are commonly packaged in flexible HDPE or PP squeeze bottles with a narrow dispensing nozzle or a flip-top cap. The consumer squeezes the bottle to force the thick product out. Once the squeeze pressure is released, the flexible bottle walls naturally want to return to their original shape, drawing air back in through the dispensing nozzle. However, the thick, viscous product often plugs the nozzle, preventing air from entering. The bottle remains in a collapsed, squeezed state. The next squeeze is more difficult because the bottle is already deformed. Over multiple uses, the bottle becomes progressively more collapsed, and a significant amount of product—as much as 10-15%—is trapped inside, inaccessible to the consumer. This is not only frustrating but also wasteful and a negative brand experience. An air return vent solves this by providing a dedicated, non-clogging air intake that functions regardless of the product's viscosity.
The adhesive ePTFE vent liner provides that dedicated air return pathway. Applied to a small port in the bottle cap or neck, the ePTFE membrane allows ambient air to flow rapidly into the bottle as the plastic walls spring back after squeezing. The bottle instantly regains its full shape, and the next squeeze is as easy as the first. The membrane is completely waterproof and, critically, oleophobic. The long-chain fatty acids, emulsified oils, and sticky sugars in ketchup, mayonnaise, and chocolate syrup do not wet the membrane surface. The pores remain open and breathable, even after months of contact with the product. The adhesive backing bonds securely to the plastic cap or bottle material and is food-safe for indirect contact. The vent is small, discreet, and does not interfere with the bottle's aesthetics or the cap's function.

The vent patch is applied to the inside of the bottle cap or over a small hole in the bottle neck. When the consumer squeezes the bottle, the product is forced out through the dispensing nozzle. When the squeeze is released, the bottle walls naturally spring back. This creates a slight vacuum that draws ambient air through the ePTFE membrane's microscopic pores into the bottle. The air enters smoothly and silently, instantly equalizing the pressure. The bottle regains its full shape.
