Product Overview

The D17 HDPE pressure equalization vent is engineered for larger-capacity pesticide and disinfectant pails, typically ranging from 5 gallons (20L) to 7 gallons (30L). Its 17mm installation diameter accommodates a generously sized ePTFE membrane, providing high-capacity breathing that effectively neutralizes the aggressive pressure swings common in disinfectant and chemical pails. The HDPE construction ensures flawless weld compatibility with standard HDPE pail lids and closures. By delivering reliable, maintenance-free pressure management, this vent keeps pails dimensionally stable, stackable, and safe from the risks of bulging, collapse, or liquid leakage during transport and storage in demanding agricultural and institutional supply chains.

Cause

Pesticide and disinfectant pails encounter severe pressure-related failures throughout their distribution life. Disinfectants based on chlorine, peroxide, or quaternary ammonium compounds continuously generate gases that inflate sealed pails. Liquid pesticides expand significantly in high-temperature transport, creating internal pressures that can cause lid seal failure and weeping around the rim. Stacked pails, subjected to top loads, can buckle if a vacuum weakens the sidewalls. Additionally, many pail users (farmers, janitorial staff) expect a pail to open without a sudden burst of vapor or liquid, which is a common and dangerous occurrence in unvented containers.

Solution

The D17 HDPE vent, welded into the pail lid, acts as a continuous passive pressure relief and vacuum break system.
