The D15 HDPE ePTFE vent membrane is a specialized pressure management component designed to be integrated into caps and closures of small chemical drums, IBC totes, and industrial containers. It utilizes a 15mm HDPE body and a chemically resistant ePTFE membrane to provide continuous, safe ventilation for containers holding corrosive, volatile, or gas-generating chemicals. Unlike large bung-mounted vents, this compact design is perfect for secondary closure venting, sampling ports, or smaller dispense caps where space is limited. It ensures that chemical drums and totes can breathe during filling, dispensing, and transport, preventing dangerous overpressure, vacuum collapse, and hazardous liquid egress, while meeting stringent industrial safety and UN packaging regulations.
Chemical drums and IBC totes face severe pressure differentials during their lifecycle. During hot filling, the trapped air expands; during discharge, a vacuum is created that can collapse the container. Many industrial chemicals, such as hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite, or acids, slowly decompose and generate oxygen, hydrogen, or other gases. Without proper ventilation, pressure buildup can lead to catastrophic drum rupture, lid blow-off, or violent splashing when opening.
