Product Overview

The D15 HDPE ePTFE waterproof breathable vent is a precision-engineered pressure equalization component specifically developed for small to medium-sized pesticide and chemical bottles. By integrating a high-performance ePTFE (expanded polytetrafluoroethylene) waterproof breathable membrane into a durable HDPE (high-density polyethylene) housing, this vent allows consistent air exchange while completely blocking water, agricultural chemicals, and low-surface-tension liquids. Its 15mm press-fit or weldable design makes it the ideal choice for HDPE bottles containing emulsifiable concentrates, liquid , herbicides, and various aggressive chemical formulations. This vent effectively eliminates container deformation, leakage, and dangerous pressure buildup during storage and transportation.

Cause

Liquid agrochemical bottles are constantly exposed to temperature fluctuations, altitude changes during logistics, and vapor generation caused by chemical reactions or volatile components. Without reliable ventilation, the internal pressure can rise dramatically, causing the bottle to bulge, crack at seams, or even burst, potentially exposing handlers to hazardous substances. Conversely, when the bottle cools, negative pressure can cause the container to collapse or suck in external contaminants. Traditional vented caps with simple holes allow liquid to leak out when the bottle is tipped over, failing to meet UN transportation safety standards for dangerous goods.

Solution

Our D15 HDPE vent solves these problems by embedding an ePTFE membrane with billions of micropores per square centimeter. These pores are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet but 700 times larger than air molecules, enabling continuous bidirectional airflow. The HDPE body is chemically identical to standard pesticide bottle materials, ensuring perfect ultrasonic or hot-plate welding compatibility and creating a permanent, leak-tight bond. Even when the bottle is completely inverted or shaken violently, the vent prevents liquid egress while maintaining pressure balance.

How It Works

The vent utilizes the inherent low surface energy and microporous structure of ePTFE. At the microscopic level, the membrane forms a tortuous network of interconnected fibrils and nodes. Liquid molecules, held together by strong surface tension, cannot penetrate these tiny channels. Gas molecules, however, pass through freely under differential pressure. The oleophobic treatment further ensures that even low-surface-tension agrochemical liquids containing surfactants or oils will not wet out the membrane, maintaining long-term breathability and protection.
