This EPTFE rugged handheld terminal speaker acoustic vent is built for the punishing conditions of warehouses, freight yards, cold storage facilities, and factory floors. Industrial handheld terminals, barcode scanners, and logistics PDAs require loud, clear audio for scan confirmations and voice prompts while being subjected to high-pressure washdowns, dust, diesel fumes, and frequent drops. The vent combines a heavy-duty EPTFE membrane with a 304 stainless steel mesh backing, creating a composite that withstands both high-velocity water jets (IP69K compatible) and physical abuse. It handles speaker sound pressure levels exceeding 120 dB without mechanical fatigue, ensuring the device’s beeps, alerts, and voice guidance remain intelligible even in noisy environments. The stainless steel mesh provides puncture resistance against sharp tools and fork tines, while the EPTFE layer guarantees water and dust tightness. The assembly is rated for operation from sub-zero freezer temperatures to foundry-floor heat, making it a truly all-environment solution.
Rugged terminals are often cleaned with pressure washers and disinfectants at the end of a shift. Standard speaker protection fails quickly under these conditions: foam absorbs water and freezes, mesh rusts, and both allow water ingress that corrodes the speaker.
